WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?

I play both representative soccer and cricket. In soccer I have played for Football Mid-North Coast (FMNC) rep teams for the past 4 years, last year as part of the FMNC Under 14s we were successful in winning the Newcastle Herald Women’s Premier League and Northern NSW State Football Titles. In cricket last year I played for the North Coast Primary Schools team at the NSW State Cricket Championships. For the last 2 years I have been a member of the North Coast Girls Cricket Academy and have made the North Coast Girls Under 15 Cricket Team to play in the NSW Country Championships at Raymond Terrace. This year I was lucky enough to be named Captain of that team. My most recent achievement in cricket is being named in the extended ACT/NSW Country Squad for the National Under 15 Cricket Championships in Canberra in early 2020.

WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?

The grant will assist my family with the ongoing costs of my representative sport. I would probably spend the grant money on my Soccer Uniforms or put it towards a new helmet for cricket and maybe a new bat.

HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?

I applied for this grant to hopefully assist my parents with the costs that come with playing all my sports over the state. During the soccer season, we play every second weekend in Newcastle, which means because I live in South West Rocks, that we have to travel down the night before each game as the games start at 9:30 am. We stay in hotels and the cost of fuel is a large expense as it is normally an 8 hour return trip. There is also a lot of travel during Cricket season with Academy Camps in Grafton, rep games in Taree, Country Championships in Raymond Terrace and now I have to go to Sydney in January for the training Camps for the Nationals. Apart from travel and accommodation all of the representative teams that I play in I have to purchase uniforms and there is also registration fees for each team.

WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?

I love sport and want to be able to play it all my life. I’d love to play in the W-League for soccer and play cricket for the Australian Women’s cricket side and the Sydney Sixers in the WBBL.

WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?

Without a doubt, Elysse Perry, she played the 2 sports I most love at the highest level. She played for the Matildas and the Australian Women’s Cricket Team. I have watched her at Coffs Harbour in a One-Day cricket game against England and she looked so fit, bowled fast and batted so well. She is my role model for sure.
