Clarence Valley Conservatorium
WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?
Clarence Valley Conservatorium ensembles perform regularly at community events throughout Grafton and the Clarence Valley as well as performances at the Conservatorium. Recent performances by the Concert and Jazz bands include performing at the Riverlight concert as part of the Jacaranda Festival. The ensembles provide an add-on to a music students learning by providing the opportunity to learn in a group setting with students their own age that is a fun yet educational environment.
WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?
The Conservatorium ensembles provide an ideal opportunity for students to garner performance experience, not just at the Conservatorium but also by performing in a variety of locations in the Clarence Valley and further afield. We see this as a great way for students to advance on their instruments but also to grow and develop as contributors to the community, a trait that is important for this young generation to learn.
HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?
This grant will allow the Conservatorium to purchase percussion equipment and storage necessary for performances that occur offsite. The purchase of a hardware case with wheels will allow percussion stands to be transported safely and securely in a container designed for this purpose. In addition, the purchase of a percussion table will allow for the placement of percussion instruments during performances and concerts.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?
It is hoped that our Ensembles Program will continue the development that it has undergone in the last few years and include touring of groups throughout NSW and Australia. New programs can be added to cover the entire range of musical genres.
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
Our students who make up the ensembles inspire us the most – learning and enjoying each other as colleagues is a great thing for kids to learn.
