Coffs U14s Rep Netball Team
WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?
This group of young talented girls competed in 5 carnivals around the region including the one they had to compete in Sydney and Newcastle , they have won most of them. These carnivals are their preparations for the State Junior Title that was held earlier in July. They came first equal with 3 other teams from the city out of 17 teams from around the State in their Age group in Division 2. They trained 2 days a week and play competition a week as a team. Last week ( 28/07/2019), they were representing Coffs Harbour netball in the regional league in U17 Division 3 and won 5 games out of 5 and that put them on top of the ladder at the moment .
WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?
The girls have been playing in all carnivals that were carried out before the NSW State Championships in early July 2019. They were competing in division 2 in U14’s which is the second top Division in the Championship and they came first equal with 3 other teams from the metro areas out of 17 teams in NSW. So because of that amazing result for a regional team, they will be likely to be playing in the Championship division in 2020.
HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?
This grant will help these girls to compete in the city carnivals against the big teams so prepare themselves for the Championship Title next year. It will help towards their accomodation and first aid kits as this sport need a lot of strapping tapes , ankle guards etc etc. but it’ll be mostly needed for their accomodation if they are successful to receive this grant.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?
For this small town netball team , by participating in the Championships in 2020 the NSW selectors will look into our talented players. This will give them the opportunity to be in their training squad and to achieve these girls dreams is to become professional netball players.
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
Their coach is also a Rep Player in the Opens, these girls look up to her as an inspiration as she works hard, a great mentor and a big sister to the girls when they go away on carnivals.
