WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?

I play for Coffs United Reserve Grade Men’s Premier football. I’ve played with Coffs United for the past two years, but I have gotten so good that I’ve quickly moved up the ranks.
I was born in Ethiopia, then spent thirteen years in a refugee camp in Kenya prior to arriving in Australia at the age of 14 in 2016. Football has played a very big part in my life because education opportunities did not exist in Kenya.
Football connects me with this community and helps with my education. It also builds  links with others whilst I studying Human Services, Individual Support in Year 12 studies Coffs Harbour High.

WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?

I am applying for this grant because the fees to participate in Premier League are $430, money that is difficult for me to obtain. I have tried to find casual employment but have not been successful, partly because of my commitment to football, but also because I have found it very difficult to secure a job.
I am also the eldest of seven children in my family living in a three bedroom house. My parents both work with Costa Berries, but it is difficult with so many in our family and the family commitments that I have to help my parents.

HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?

The grant will enable me to play Premier League this year and will pay for the annual joining fee and continue my love for the sport. I enjoy being successful at Football, meeting people, and having something that is just for me in between family and school commitments.

WHAT ARE YOUr HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?

My ultimate dream would be to be a professional football player. I am also very keen to be working as an Individual Support nurse, working with people in their times of need. I plan to stay in Coffs Harbour and find full time work in this industry whilst also playing soccer.

WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?

Antionia Rudiger is a Chelsea Soccer in the UK. He is my biggest inspiration as he loves his football and plays amazingly.
