WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?

I won Coffs Harbour High School 13yr boys 3km Cross Country race, the Mid North Coast Zone Championship and the North Coast Region Championship. I finished 8th in the NSW State All Schools Cross Country Championships in Sydney and was the 2nd place combined public high schools competitor in that race so I won a silver medal there. Then in Athletics I won my school 13yr boys 400m, 800m and 1500m races. I then went on to win my 800m & 1500m races at The Mid North Coast Zone Championships. At the North Coast Regional Athletic Championships I won the 800m. In the 1500m race, I placed 2nd, only behind a 14yr old boy because I had to race up an age group. At NSW State Combined High Schools I finished 4th in the 800m and was the 1st and only 13yr old to race in the 1500m because the other competitors were all 14yrs old. In the NSW All Schools Athletics I came 4th in the 800m with a personal best time of 2:13. In the 1500m run I got 2nd place with another personal best time of 4:29. As a result I have earned a spot in the 13yr boys 1500m at Australian All Schools National Athletics in Perth on December 5th – 8th 2019.

WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?

I am applying for this grant to help with the costs of travel, accommodation, food and team gear for the National Championships in December 2019.

HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?

This grant will help my family to cover the significant expenses for my first national high school Athletics debut. I am extremely excited to have this opportunity to represent our state and make my school, Coffs Harbour and my parents proud.

WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?

My dream is to become a successful middle distance & distance runner like my Dad. I enjoy cross country racing the most but have really enjoyed getting to race on a synthetic track in Sydney this year. I would like to continue running & training hard so that I can improve and hopefully win the State Cross Country Championships. I would also like to improve on my 1500m time and try to win on the track at State as well. I’m hoping that I can race so well & fast that I could get the attention of the coaches & selectors for the Australian team for The Commonwealth Games or World Championships. I would love to become a professional runner someday and maybe even race on an American college team if I could get a sports scholarship along my journey.

WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?

My Dad inspires me the most. He’s very loving, supportive, hard working, determined and a very talented runner. He was on the Australian Junior Triathlon Team when he was younger and has raced all over the world. He still runs & races today and coaches me with my running. I hope I can be a hero like my Dad someday and do what people think would be impossible!
