Macleay Valley Rangers Football Club

WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?

MVR FC have developed very late last season , a Mini-roos under 6 -11 junior skills academy that runs every Sunday throughout the soccer season.  It is run by our qualified coaching coordinator with a few volunteer coaches .Our coaching coordinator has successfully developed a season long coaching plan for all of our volunteer coaches in our club to help them give our members the coaching experience they require to be the very best they can be . We saw an uptake from our junior members of our club with almost 30 participants as the season finished and have seen a massive improvement in these children in a small amount of time.

WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?

We applied for this grant as the club is working to make this free for all of our members. at this stage they pay a small fee $2-$5 to cover some incidental costs i.e. ground hire and fee to coaching staff. Our aim with the program is to encourage participation in our sport but also to give these children the appropriate coaching and skills to be the very best they can be.

HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?

If successful, this grant will help with purchasing of additional training aides and balls for the academy. We supply enough balls to every coach we have on Saturday competition days . But don’t have enough to cover this program if it expands the way we expect.

WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?

Our hopes for this program is to encourage all of our members (300+) to attend the skills sessions. We would like to offer the basic skills from qualified coaches that children need to enjoy our sport. Our plan is also to open this up to any child in our Valley to come and try and enjoy the sport of football . We also plan to involve all of our coaches to be involved with this academy to better their understanding of coaching.

WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?

The reason we as a club ( all volunteer based ) do what we do is to see the smiles on the children’s faces . We want to encourage a safe and healthy lifestyle and what we offer at our club does just that. The development not only on the field with skills but the social aspects of programs like this is so important .
