WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?
I love ballet and attend several weekly classes at Harbour Performing Arts Centre regularly participating in group and individual eisteddfods. At Last year’s local eisteddfod I received the 10 yrs & under Karla Mc Pherson Ballet Aggregate and the CHDES Scholarship for Dancer showing most potential 10 yrs & under. This year I was fortunate to receive the 12 yrs & under Ballet Aggregate for highest marks in Classical, Demi, and Improvisation and was selected to perform in the Coffs Harbour District Eisteddfod Classical Scholarship round placing first in the 12 yrs & under section.
WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?
I am applying for this grant to continue learning what I love to do most. As part of this year’s Coffs Harbour District Eisteddfod I was generously awarded a scholarship to attend the Queensland Ballet Summer Program. This program runs for a week in January 2020 in Queensland, which means I will have to travel there and have somewhere to stay.
HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?
If I receive The McDonald’s Coffs Harbour Junior Grant it would be a huge help towards covering some of the cost of accommodation while I attend the Queensland Ballet Summer Program. I’ll probably need new ballet shoes by then so some of the money will go towards that too.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?
My hope for the future is that I am able to dance professionally and be a florist and an author / illustrator. Next year I’m hoping to get pointe shoes, which I’m super excited about. It would be great to remain injury free too! What I really hope is to show kindness to those I meet and encourage other’s to achieve their goals.
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
God inspires me to be the very best I can be. My parents and my big brother are a constant support. My dance teachers: Miss Francesca, Miss Pia, Miss Kirsty, and Miss Merryn. The friends I’ve made through dance, especially the older girls who are really kind and generous. My physiotherapist. Miss Suzanne who is like Spring. My teachers at school who encourage me to go for gold and my favourite dancers who inspire me with their commitment, grace, beauty and athleticism.
