Woolgoolga Netball U13 Rep Team
WHAT HAVE YOUR ACHIEVEMENTS BEEN SO FAR?
This team was formed in February this year when some of the girls were only 11. They have trained all year & formed a really strong bond & team spirit. They competed in carnivals in Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Taree & Maclean. Each carnival saw a stronger performance by the girls. This was all leading up to the Junior State Age Carnival in Sydney in July where they finished an amazing 4th place in their division! Not bad for their first year in the competition!
WHY DID YOU APPLY FOR THIS GRANT?
The girls come from varying socio-economic backgrounds & the cost of travelling around to carnivals, buying uniforms & equipment etc is very difficult for some families. This would go some way in giving everyone the opportunity to participate & follow their dreams.
HOW WILL THIS GRANT BENEFIT YOU? AND HOW DO YOU PLAN ON USING IT?
If successful, the grant would be shared around the team to help pay for uniform and accommodation costs. As I mentioned above we travel to a number of carnivals through the year & this would be particularly helpful when we travel to Sydney next year to compete at State.
WHAT ARE YOU HOPES AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?
Most of the girls aspire to play for Australia with the Diamonds! Who knows, if they keep loving their sport & training hard they may just get there! Their more immediate dream is to win their division at the State Titles in 2020.
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
The girls were lucky enough to meet a Diamonds player at this years State titles – Maddy Turner. This was very inspiring for the entire team & they are excited to watch her journey with the Australian Diamonds. They are also lucky to have a great coach, the girls all look up to & respect Abby greatly.
